Died in 1979 Born in Cardiff in 1895, he later moved to West Hartlepool. He enlisted in 18 DLI - the Pals battalion - and joined "D" Company. He served in Egypt and on the Western Front and won the Military Medal, as an Acting Sergeant attached to 31 Division, for his conduct at Courcelles in France in March 1918, when he delivered a vital signal under heavy shell fire; and in April 1918 at Strageele, Belgium, when he manned a Battle Stop Post in the town, under 3 days of intense shell fire. Edwin Bell died in 1979, aged 84 years.
